Procedure - Glycolic Peels
What is Glycolic Peel?
A skin peel is a treatment that helps improve and refine the skin. It works by lifting off the top layer of dead skin cells, therefore smoothing away fine lines, wrinkles and blemishes and improving the overall appearance and condition of the skin. It can be performed both on the face and/or neck area.
What results can you expect?
The patient will experience a mild stinging sensation during the treatment and following the skin may be slightly pink. The skin appears noticeable smoother, more translucent, softer and supple, rapidly assists in clearing acne lesions, evens skin tone, lessens the appearance of acne scarring, significantly decreases the appearance of fine lines and deeper wrinkles. A series of skin peels is recommended for maximum effectiveness. As the series continues, along with the homecare programme, the cumulative action becomes greater and greater.
What is the treatment like?
The procedure is virtually painless, the patient will feel a mild stinging sensation as the glycolic acid works on the skin.
Do I have to follow an aftercare regime?
The patient should not use any glycolic acid products for approximately 24 hours following the treatment. You may use mild non-glycolic acid cleansers and moisturizers. Patients should avoid sun exposure.
Patients should resume consistent use of their Bioglycolic homecare program after 24 hours, however the patient should treat the skin gently. Do not use any masks, abrasives or other supplemental resurfacing products.
Mild flaking or sloughing may or may not be experienced the second or third day following an application. This is normal.
Who is ideal for a glycolic peel?
Skin peels can help people prone to acne, as the glycolic compound can dislodge blackheads and help prevent their formation and higher concentrations can lead to the ‘unroofing’ of pustules. People who have dry skin also show improvement, though generally anyone is suitable for skin peels. A skin care programme is a good way of improving your skin and is ideal for people with an upcoming important event such as a wedding or holiday.
The Glycolic peel offers benefits for aged and photodamaged skin, acne, hyperpigmentation. This procedure especially appeals to the patient who wants to measurably improve the appearance of the skin with a procedure that enables them to immediately apply makeup and continue their normal activities.
How much does it cost?
A Glycolic Peel treatment usually costs £80* for the face, however we offer great savings if you buy a package.
