Lipostabil ® is an injectible treatment for localised fat deposits or cellulite and is an alternative to surgical procedures such as lipo-suction. Lipostabil ® is a fat-dissolving enzyme known as phosphatidylcholine . It is a substance, extracted from soybean, but it is naturally present in every cell and appears to alter the solubility of fat in the body. Phosphatidylcholine was first used in the 1970's as an intravenous treatment for a variety of fat related cardio-vascular conditions and it has been used in cosmetic fat dissolving treatments since the late 1990's. Lipostabil ® is a prescription medicine and, although it is licenced in many other countries, it is currently categorised as an off-licence medicine.
